Hand-carved from a single piece of Kisii soapstone by Kenyan artisans, this contemporary sculpture features a representation of two lovers in a circle, each with one arm soaring overhead while their bodies form a heart. Kisii stone is a type of soapstone found in the Kisii region of Kenya. The stone is mined by hand, using little to no machinery.
Kisii is a soft stone with a talc-like feel. It's color varies from cream to pink to gold to gray in any single piece. It is often cut in water, making the shaping process easier. Each piece of art is sanded and polished to a satiny finish.
Measures approximately 10-inches tall. Due to the hand-carved nature, each piece may vary in size by up to a half an inch.
